How can you not be in love with Louis? He is the gentlest of giants and the sweetest of Cocker Spaniels. He spends his days roaming around and gazing at you with his sad tired eyes, hoping you’ll reach your hand out and stroke his head or give him chin scritches! Louis perks up immediately when he receives love and attention. He is the most friendly mutt and he enjoys the company of other dogs. If you’re looking for the perfect body pillow you must give Louis boy a try!
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Would you like to adopt a dog shaped Muppet that is always hungry? If so, Louis is the dog for you. He would be a great city dog. He is not afraid to do his business on concrete, doesn’t spook at loud noises, walks well on a leash, and he very rarely barks.
He is gentle and curious with our resident dog and other pups and people he meets outside. He has displayed some mounting behavior (pups only), but when it’s discouraged he gives up on it rather quickly. We don’t have a cat, but he doesn’t react to them outside. I’d be happy to test him with a willing volunteer cat if necessary.
Louis is deaf and we are working on hand signals. He already worked out his own doggy sign language and will paw at his food bowl if he feels dinner is running late. You’ll want to keep an eye on this guy and food. He is not shy about taking advantage if any sort of food (and once a beer) is left in reach.
A few short 15 minute walks will keep Louis happy. When it is time to settle in for the evening he prefers to be by his people on the couch and will lay his head on your lap and nap. Louis won’t pester you for affection but if you start petting him, he will melt to the floor and lean into your pets. He is mostly potty trained, and he doesn’t have accidents if you keep his outdoor visits on schedule. If it is raining, he will give you puppy dog eyes that say he can hold it until the rain slacks off. Even though it is very cute and compelling, don’t believe him.
Louis arrived at Muttville in rough shape and part of his foster care involved a lot of medicines. Although he clearly doesn’t care for either of these things, he was still gentle and accommodating to receiving them. He would eagerly gobble up any pills that were in his food, or had a dab of peanut butter on them.
