Licorice is such a beautiful girl!
Some notes from Licorice’s foster:
Licorice has revealed herself as the absolute sweetest, happiest girl! She’s settled in quite nicely. Just a fabulous lady with a cute cocker spaniel personality and a consistent wiggling rear end to match!
Here are the things I’ve learned about Licorice in the time we’ve been together:
She’s a great eater and is food/treats motivated. No food guarding.
She’s 100% potty trained with no accidents in the house. We go out every 4-5 hours for a break and no issues overnight.
She has some energy for an older lady (but still young!). She loves to take walks and explore. She’s fairly fast and can hop on things, do flights of stairs, and run.
She splits her time between an armchair and her large dog bed. Loves to be in the armchair most of the day. Would appreciate a “dogs are allowed on the furniture” type of home!
She snores! While funny, knowing she is comfortable and feels safe enough to rest well is nice.
She likes toys and uses them to greet people who come in. When she’s happy, she’ll gently carry a toy around while she wiggles. Hasn’t been destructive of anything.
She sleeps while I work but is always happy to go out for a walk or potty break.
She doesn’t LOVE baths but will sit there and get clean (humph!) She doesn’t mind being handled – like getting dressed in her harness and collar (although she wiggles so much, it can be hard to do the clasps!), cleaning her ears, paws, etc.
She rides well in the car, does fine alone at home, and likes to be around other dogs and people.
Overall, Licorice is a gem of a dog. She’s happy, sweet, and really cuddly. She’s gonna be the belle of someone’s ball.
