Here’s some notes from her foster:
We are having the best time with this sweet sweet girl. She reminds us so much of our pug mix and has us laughing and cooing over her fun personality and absurdly cute self.
She has been turning heads across North Beach as she gets carried to and from the park for her walks (the park is only 3 blocks away, but walking on busy streets is a bit much for this slow moving senior – she seems to be adjusting to being guided on a leash). So far she is uninterested in grass, but really enjoys sniffing the dirt, sand, and wood chips while walking in large circles. She’s also done great on quick walks around the block finding so much to sniff and explore in the tree basins on our street. She is such a curious pup!
She is the ultimate lapdog and will demand attention with full on whimpers if you are doing other things with your hands rather than holding her (so rude of us!) – she enjoys being carried and treated like a human baby. She has been doing great understanding the layout of the apartment, learning with each light boop where walls and furniture are – she’s such an explorer and does a great job sensing her environment without sight, even shimmying under sofa legs to make sure she’s not missing anything. She hears great and has been following our snaps if we are trying to lead her somewhere which has been really helpful. It’s tempting to pick her up a lot but I know that’s not supporting her to learn so we are resisting the urge.
She’s not much of a drinker but she’s been eating great and has sipped from her water bowl. She is super food motivated and I think she’ll love playing with puzzle toys. She is a great napper and slept so soundly the whole night through. We were a little worried she’d wake up in the night and not know how to get out of our bed safely, but she slept so peacefully and we woke to her looking at us ready for her walk.
One funny thing is that this liberated lady prefers to be naked – she is so thrilled when her harness comes off after a walk and is extremely unenthused about putting it on to go outside!
