Laverne, a plucky little Papillon Spaniel combo, is an affirmative answer to the question: Can I have it all? A spotted and speckled love magnet in curly fur toreador pants, she checks boxes you didn’t know existed. Elite ears, bright eyes, and a happy prance might be on your wish list, but that lush fur flag of a tail and boundless affection for dogs and people? Over the top! Come bask in her charms; leave with her in your arms.
Here’s some notes from her foster:
We have had a great couple of days and it seems like Laverne is already feeling very comfortable in the apartment! We’re following a pretty regular schedule that starts around 7 with a short walk, followed by breakfast, then some down time which is mostly spent napping.
She hasn’t had any accidents and I do feel pretty confident she’s potty trained because she also knows to go to the dirt patches/tree stumps outside. In the evening we do another short walk and have dinner around 6, which she is always very happy about – she is definitely food motivated :) Then we have some cuddles and more laying around before a final potty break and bed around 10.
She is sleeping very well in her crate at night, and in another room! She also has been fine left alone in her crate for short periods of time (and she is enjoying watching/listening to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City when left alone).
She is doing well on her walks, and seems interested in other dogs but doesn’t pull to go say hi or anything. She isn’t very skittish outside, and actually seems like she’d be perfectly content in the city (with a slight preference for something a little quieter). She also has been howling with the sirens which is very cute :)
We haven’t run into any kids, but she is still very friendly with other people, and seems to have no fear with men or anything like that. I do think she could do well with kids, as long as they were gentle :) She also did well in the car ride from Muttville to my apartment. Generally she is such a sweet happy low key easy going girl! Anyone would be lucky to welcome her into their home :)
