Laser

#10025
Terrier, Border/Mix
Male
9 lbs (small)
Status: Adopted

This adorable little Cairn Terrier mix has the short leg, long bodied physic that all the mutts dream of. You know, short legs get you closer to the food, while the long body equals more surface area for scritches. Some say he resembles a wittle teddy bear throwing out beams of love in every direction. Others say he is a scruffy wittle curmudgeon because he just can’t stand when people don’t pick up after their pups! He’s the type of guy who takes pride in his lawn, waters it every evening at sundown, and enjoys a good daily roll around in the grass. He likes the UV rays so much that he has burned off patches of his coat. We warned him to wear sunscreen but he chose to turn his folded over ears in the opposite direction. Now he’s too shy and embarrassed to go outside because he feels nude. He’s hoping for a new sweater vest to keep him warm and protected until his hair grows back! Until then he wants to stay inside and pigeon toe his way into your heart!

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Laser has been such a great, funny little foster guest in my home, and I know he would make a great addition to yours!

I’ll admit that, at first, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this scruffy little gremlin. When he showed up, he was very aloof and chose to sleep all day while ignoring me. I have to imagine that because of his past as a stray on the mean streets of Monterey, he had an image to maintain. But after a few days, the relative tough-guy act began to crack and it turns out he’s quite the softee.

First, let me just say that photos don’t really do him justice. He looks (and feels) like an old teddy bear that’s been through the wash a few too many times, and his giant eyes are at least twice as big as you’d expect. He might currently have some bare booty cheeks, but his butt fluff is growing back nicely after his time as a matted stray. He is currently my 6th foster, and this has included beautiful Labs and German Shepherds, and yet it’s Laser the terrier mix who has gotten the most compliments around the neighborhood.

He loves making little blanket forts, slices of American cheese and nap time. The only thing he doesn’t love is when you take too long to adjust his harness on his back where he can’t see – he can be a tiny bit reactive, but it’s harmless since he has somewhere around zero teeth. And when I say he loves nap time, I do mean it. If you are looking for a guard dog, maybe look elsewhere. No amount of noise or movement wakes him up. He also loves being cradled like a baby. Maybe don’t tell him I said that…

Otherwise he has been very friendly with other people and dogs, and he enjoys short to medium walks. He doesn’t mark and has only had one or two accidents, which is to be expected – just know that he takes his time to pick the perfect spot to go on his walks. He can also be a little picky about food, but I suspect this is temporary and we’re working on that too.

That’s all to say that Laser has to be seen to be believed. His quirks only make him more endearing, and I feel like that would only get better over time!
