Here’s some notes from her foster:
What a sweet senior chihuahua! She is calm and mellow, and doesn’t feel the need to bark.
She can be shy around strangers (humans and canines), but doesn’t react much when they approach to say hello.
She likes to follow you around, but isn’t a clingy lap dog, and will do just fine to return to nap in her bed while you are out.
She is not a hiker, but loves to take in the day with a slow “sniffari”. Down the block or around the garden is great; she loves getting her steps in there. This also means that she is not able to jump onto furniture or beds. She can do a few steps, but on a full flight of stairs she might trip! So keep an eye out. A+ for her fearless effort.
She enjoys The Farmer’s Dog chicken recipe and drinks plenty of water. Doesn’t seem too treat-motivated. She did very well after her dental surgery and will take her medication with food.
She quickly got used to the routine of going outside and has become good about waiting for me to take her out first thing in the morning. Once she’s out, she relieves herself, so she knows that outside is where we want her to go. But during the day she does seem to need to pee every 3-4 hours after meals. She’ll do best in a home where she can get out to smell the flowers often :)
