Kayla!

Kayla!

Husky/German Shepherd Mix
Female
Large (50-90 lbs)
Status: Available from another shelter

Kayla is an eight-year-old 65-lb “lap dog” who gets more affectionate every single day. She is equal parts goofy, lazy, playful, and smart, and she is excelling at basic obedience, advanced tricks, and agility training! Kayla loves to cuddle and will gently nudge your hands for more, more, more pets. She enjoys walks and jobs and is currently learning to heel. #ID A1354896

Why Kayla is such a gem:

-Fully house trained

-Past the puppy phase and is non-destructive

-Sleeps through the night

-Quiet and calm in the home (no barking at dogs or excitement)

-Ignores people, bikes, skateboards, and most dogs on walks

-Smart and eager to learn, she is thriving with training, agility classes, and enrichment

Suspected to be a German Shepherd/Husky mix, Kayla brings the brains without the noise. She stays in the home without issue while her foster mom is at work, and hasn’t gotten into any trouble.

Kayla would do best in a home that enjoys mental stimulation like training, obedience work, puzzle toys, and games. She has been in the shelter for far too long and is more than ready for a loving home that will keep her engaged and adored.

What should potential adopters know about me:

Kayla is a sweet and spirited senior girl. While her grey nose might suggest she’s slowing down, Kayla still has plenty of spunk and her adventurous spirit remains strong. She pulls moderately on the leash, eager to explore everything the world has to offer. Kayla is a sweet, affectionate girl who likes to lean against her people for scratches and attention. She’s treat motivated and has a solid sit command. She shows occasional minor reactivity (barking) at other dogs when she gets excited or they come too close but generally passes dogs without issue. Kayla is looking for a home that offers quiet comfort with occasional adventures – the perfect balance for spending her golden years. She’d b e ideal for someone who wants a loving companion with enough energy to enjoy life’s adventures, but who also appreciates downtime and affection.

Three words to describe me:

Spunky, Adventurous, Sweet

Kayla is currently being fostered so best to contact the City of San Jose Animal Services to meet her.
