Josie is a sweet and tender 12-year-old beautiful medium-sized mystery mutt.
She came to Muttville through the Petaluma Animal Shelter, where she had developed a history of being allowed to wander at-large. Apparently, her previous owners decided they didn’t want to pay another fine, and surrendered her over to the shelter. Unfortunately, Josie did not do well in the kennels, under stress from all the barking, and was not eating. Now in a foster home, the poor old scrawny lady is eating, but still has weight to gain. Despite appearing to be a mix of Rottweiler/Shepherd/Lab/Hound, she only weighs 42 pounds. At optimum weight, I doubt she’ll top 50.
Josie has a wonderful temperament. She’s friendly with everyone and other animals. Definitely not an alpha dog, Josie is happy to meet dogs large and small, and even cats (but she is respectful of their ‘space’). She’s content to lie around and nap, or better yet, have you pet her forever (once you start, don’t stop- because she’ll pull your hand back to the business of giving her the lovin’)! She sometimes will thank you with the daintiest little kiss.
Josie likes to go for walks, and does pretty darned well for having spindly granny back legs. She takes time to stop and smell the roses (or shrubs, or mailbox poles, or poop). Jose absolutely LOVES to go for rides. When she knows it’s time to go outside (figuring there’s a walk or ride involved), she gets excited and does the cutest little doggie dance-spin!
A really nice dog, all this sweet girl needs is some snuggles, a warm bed, and the love, comfort and care of a permanent guardian and place to call home.
