John Waters, a stout champagne chi with plenty of swagger, is obviously divine. Loves people, holds his own with other dogs, leans in without shame to all scratches and cuddles on offer. Probably looks dandy in a gold lamé smoking jacket. A senior on the super side at 15, he is nonetheless an agile little fireplug with places to go and people to see. And his wry wisdom, delivered wordlessly with great humility, is life affirming. Need an affectionate guru with very short legs? Got him!
Here’s some notes from his foster:
What a sweet little man he is, but with a charming little smirk showing his goofy personality coming out as he gets more comfortable and feeling better. He is a master snuggler and great sleeper. He will take over your personal pillow – be warned! Belly rubs are his favorite.
He walks well on leash and looks respectfully at dogs across the street. His walks are solid-sniffari style. He never leaves a patch of plants without a little tinkle to remember him by. He loves the grass in the garden and loves to roll around out there. He doesn’t do stairs but that’s ok – he’s a very portable little chonk. He will back up and try to avoid being picked up but he lets you do it. We pick him up to get off the bed and couch but I think a ramp might work for this guy. His back legs are a little wobbly.
We think he’s almost totally deaf. He does not react to any noises including huge fireworks or even hand claps right behind his head. But his nose certainly works. He knows when it’s feeding time but he’s really interested in people food; I’m sure that his cute face begging for food led to his extra girth! As the perfect prince he is, he prefers to eat a combo of Weruva chicken and JFFD by being hand fed. He seems to be mostly potty trained, only one accident in the house. He’s a lovely little chap and I think would love to be the king of his castle!
