Jake

Jake

#3397
Corgi mix
Male
Medium (20-50 lbs)
Status: Adopted

Jake is large and in charge! It’s clear that in his previous home food meant love, and he got a bit too much of it. Now he’s learning that love means lots of daily walks in the sunshine and playtime with his four legged buddies! Jake gets along great with other dogs and loves hanging out with people. We think he’ll make a great addition to any mellow home that can help him get back to a healthy weight.

Jake is hilarious and a delight to have around. His facial expressions make his foster laugh out loud at least once a day. He gets along wonderfully with their female chihuahua mix, although they do need to be fed in separate rooms because he’s a slow eater and she’s a chow hound. He seems to love kids, gravitating to them whenever they’re around. He loves to play fetch with a soft toy, and LOVE LOVE LOVES to snuggle next to humans on the sofa or bed.

He’s always excited for a walk, although until he gets in better shape distance should probably be limited to a half mile or so at a time. He gets stronger and leaner every day, and his flexibility and mobility have improved by leaps and bounds since he’s been in foster. So far, a full staircase is too big a challenge for him (although the three steps into the foster’s family room are no problem) but that may change, too. He has already stopped asking to be picked up on the sofa, and just hops up. He came to us a little spoiled, but he has been a dream to train; he’s very smart and eager to please. He’s pretty close to being a perfect pup!

Good with cats and kids!

We think Jake is 9 years young, weighing 23 lbs.
