Jackson might be one of our shyer mutts, but don’t be fooled, this scruffy senior has a lot of personality that will blossom as he warms up to you. He has been polite and courteous with our other mutts, although he prefers to keep to himself for now. This lovely gentleman is motivated by treats, so the more human volunteers have been winning him over one snack at a time. You’d never guess from his trim, 15-pound frame that he’s such a snack hound, but that’s probably due to him being a pretty active, younger senior at only 8 years old. Despite his reserved nature, Jackson is sweet and warm and looking forward to finding a loving forever home – could it be yours?

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Jackson gets along great with other dogs. He loves meeting them on the street. He’s great on the leash-never pulling. Sometimes while walking he will hesitate for a few seconds to look around. I just say ok and he moves forward. He loves his people. That said he can be hesitant when meeting new people on the street.

He’s amazingly well potty trained. While a lot of dogs in transition might mark in the house he’s never done that. And he waits patiently in the morning for our walk. He is very food motivated but has gotten the message that he can’t bother another dog’s bowl till they are finished.

He knows sit, stay, come. He does like toys. He likes to cuddle. He’ll rest his head on my thigh or fully stand or sit on top of me when I’m petting him. He learned our routine very quickly. He is fine driving in the car. I left him home alone with my dog and everything went just fine! The longest I’ve been away is about six hours. I come back and it’s clear he’s just been sleeping.
