Little Huey is quite an amazing little guy!

Huey is a little yorkie who has a positive and sweet spirit. He is super friendly and goes with the flow. Even though he doesn’t hear, or see very well, he just keeps on truckin! He does really well with other dogs and really loves to get pets from people. He would gladly sit next to you on the sofa for some relaxing. Huey would be most comfortable in a quieter home with patient parents who understand his special needs. We think that Huey is so wonderful and know you will too.

HERE’S WHAT HIS FOSTER MOM HAS TO SAY!

Huey is an easy and amazing little guy that does not take a lot of work once you learn how he communicates. What does he do in a typical day? In the morning we go for our minute walk in courtyard so he can do his business. Then he eats breakfast (2 tsp with a few kibbles mixed in), he likes help cleaning his muzzle with a clean wet towel after meals, then he looks for his bed next to me while I spend the day on the computer. Between 3:00-5:00, we go to the dog park where he likes to walk and stand around. We have dinner once back home and then bedtime. He goes outside to eliminate several times a day but it only takes about a minute.

He is fully house trained, loves mealtimes, and is comfortable with other dogs. He makes squeaky, wheezy, hiccup, and cough-like sounds but it’s just the way he communicates. When his needs are met and he is completely satisfied, he is quiet and often napping for hours.

Huey is deaf and his eyesight is poor. I think he sees shadows so you need to let him know you are around to make him feel safe. At home, it is best to keep his food, water and bedding in a consistent place where he can find it on his own. If he gets confused, he will just stand in one spot. But he also will stand in one spot for minutes just to hang out. I rarely see him sit. He will be at the dog park just standing as dogs come to greet him.

He only needs a few minutes to do his business – once he is done, he doesn’t need walks but he enjoys going places with you as long as he is being held or in a comfortable, warm and cozy bag/cart.

It took me a while to figure out his communication sounds/grunts and what they mean (needs to potty, wants water or needs a hug) but I think I have it down now!
