What’s sweet, chocolaty, and full of kisses? Hershey the dog is here at Muttville and is better than any piece of candy. This little snack might not come inside a tiny square of tinfoil, but she is just as portable and universally loved.
Here are some notes from her foster:
Hershey has been nothing but sweet for the time we’ve had her! She’s mellow but has a lot of spunk in her when it’s go-time! She’s been chasing the neighbor’s cat and defending herself (rightfully so!) when our resident dog was a bit rude at the start, but Hershey has won our pup over.
Her favorite things are snacks (she loves cucumber and apple), the squirrel toy our resident dog kindly let her borrow, and snoozing on the patio in the sun. She gets along so well with all people of all ages and other dogs. She’s the perfect companion when running errands or enjoying a meal at a restaurant – she just hangs along and doesn’t complain at all.
She appears to have some mild separation distress, as she’s had two accidents around the house when left alone (we’ve done some training where we go out on the yard for short periods of time) and does a quiet little howl. She just needs someone to help her build her confidence. Otherwise she seems to be housetrained!
Some other random notes: she did great with her first bath and does really well in the car. She loves to have blankets in her bed so she can burrow. When she needs to relieve herself or is hungry, she is quiet as a mouse but stares at you and gently licks your hand and arms. She knows “sit” and does an adorable spin when it’s feeding time! She gets very sleepy after 7pm and runs right back inside when we take her out in the backyard for her last pee (I suggest putting a leash on her to show her it’s pee time). She can be timid for the first few days, so go low and slow with her and she’ll blossom! She’s absolutely perfect!!
