Hail Mary

#13338
Chihuahua
Female
7 lbs (small)
Status: Adopted

While a Hail Mary is usually a last-ditch effort to save a game, we assure you that our Hail Mary will be your first choice for adoptable seniors! Hail Mary is a fantastically friendly fuzzball who wants nothing more than a cozy lap to curl up on (she does request that you not throw her like a Hail Mary, though, despite her small stature that may resemble a football). Her creamy tan and white fur will have you envisioning peaches and cream soft-serve, which would be the perfect treat for summer days like these. While she might not be as cold, Hail Mary is just as sweet and refreshing, and she’s the perfect fun little treat to get you through the day! This delightful dame has a decade of experience in tail wags, tongue licks, and treat requests, and although she’ll take up all the room in your heart, she won’t take up much space in your home, weighing in at a svelte six pounds. This marvelous mutt is a little vision impaired, but that doesn’t slow her down! In fact, she can see her future clearly and thinks you might be in it! If you’re seeing that, too, why not scoop up your own Hail Mary today?

Here’s some notes from her foster:

Hail Mary is such a sweet little gal. It has been so rewarding to see her settle into my home and enjoy the comforts of having her very own bed. Her favorite activity seems to be sleeping in as late as possible!

Although we’ve only known each other for about a week, so far she has proven herself to be loving, gentle, and even a little goofy. When feeling safe at home, she is fairly independent and mostly just enjoys snoozing the day away.

Hail Mary has some visual impairment, but don’t let that fool you! This little lady navigates amazingly well – I’ve seen her tackle small steps, navigate up stairs, and even jump off the couch occasionally. I suspect that given the right amount of light, she may be able to see shadows.

She eats well, enjoys going outside for walks (albeit at a slower pace), and loves to sleep in during the mornings. She does great in the car in a sling, but gets a bit nervous on the bus from the loud sounds.

Luckily, she has been great about allowing me to apply her eye meds and has never put up too much of a fuss about me being near her eyes.

She seems house trained and typically sleeps through the night. The few accidents we had were due to me not understanding her cues.

One thing that she will likely need some help with is being left alone. I imagine it is quite scary for her to be left alone in a new place when she can’t see well! We are working on building her confidence to be at home alone.
