You know what they say about big dogs: they’ve got big hearts full of big love! (And they take up lots of room on the couch.) All of this is true for our big boy Gunther! This handsome hunk is an expert couch potato. But when he’s feeling silly, it’s time for play bows and fun! Boy is he cute when he’s galumphing around!

Here’s a note from his foster!

This big ole’ babaloo hunka hunka burnin’ love is as sweet as can be! If you’re looking for a Grandpa Joe, lazy love muffin, to join your work from home team, Gunther is your man!

Gentle, slow and a bit wobbly, Gunther is friendly with my resident dog, making a 60 pound pitty look like his baby sister! I think he was more afraid of the resident cat the first time he saw him. Granted, my cat is a scary fluff ball, so he probably had no idea what he was, so Gunther is still getting used to him.

Gunther is completely housebroken, no accidents, even though he’s still transitioning. There is some separation anxiety if I’m in a different room, though he does settle after some time and seems to be okay when I leave the house (I listen from outside the door). Maybe he just doesn’t want to miss out on the action if he knows I’m home?

He seemed nervous in the car, there was some licking of car doors and presses against the backseat, but he’s easily ‘redirect-able’ and comforted. Gunther is a tiny bit picky with his food, he prefers some wet food mixed in with the kibble. It might be because he just swallows his food whole! I think he gets tired with standing, so it helps to lift the bowl up to him or he lays down to eat. He’s very gentle if fed by hand but he’s not really into to treats. Oh and because he’s probably deaf, he has amazing eye contact and with a tap on his body, he’ll give you his full attention.

Meet Gunther, he is such a good boy!
