Meet Grits, the newest poodle on the block!

Grits is curious, outgoing and wants to be in all the action! He’s can’t wait to find his new adventure buddy. This intrepid little explorer comes to us from Berkeley, where he was found as a stray. Despite his hardships, he is a happy pup and has a wag and smile for everyone. Fill out an application for Grits today!

Grits is 8 years old and 12 lbs.

Check out what Grits’ foster has to say about him:

Grits has a lot of grit! He is a smart, polite fellow who does well with calmness in his routine & being near his people. He’s very human-focused & has fantastic house manners. He’s great with my mildly dog-phobic son – pleasant & loving, without licking or exuberance. In house, her has very little activity. He likes to make little nests with his bed & blanket & curl up, sometimes snoozing, sometimes watching you with soulful eyes. Sometimes he pushes his shoulders against the floor. Outside, though, he’s a little detective who has to check everything out, with a surprisingly quick walk (even the occasional jog!). The longest I’ve taken him out walking was the two mile round trip to & from my son’s school & he enjoyed that. I think he’d really enjoy hiking in nature! He definitely needs at least one good walk a day. He is quite alert when walking by people & cars, but he’s not fearful per se – often he wants to come up to friendly-looking people to say hello! Grits is quite good about letting you know when he wants to go out & sleeps through the night like a champ. We use a belly band when we’re all out of the house during the day, if he uses it it’s minimal enough that I can’t really tell if the pad has taken in any liquid. We take it off when we are with him at home, no accidents. He likes to be with his people & will need some work on boosting his confidence about being alone! He loves napping on his dog bed with a snuggly blanket but his favorite nap spot is on the couch next to my three-year-old son while we read a book.
