Greta

Greta

#8090
Spaniel Mix
Female
Small (6-20 lbs)
Status: Adopted

Greta is a very sweet little lady.  She is a very calm and mellow gal and really enjoys the company of others, humans and dogs alike.  Sadly, Greta’s guardian passed away so she comes to us looking for a new family.  She is a very feminine and super nice little mutt.  She is said to be a spaniel/chihuahua mix.   She truly is a pretty dog.  She is loyal, and loving and would be happy in any new home.  She has lived with children before and does great with them.  We do think that she would be most comfortable in a quieter home and also would enjoy daily walks or trips to the park.  She also would be the perfect binge watching companion.  Great is a wonderful dog and will make her new family very happy.

Greta is 11 years young and weighs 13lbs.

HERE’S WHAT HER FOSTER HAS TO SAY!

Greta has been such a quiet little sweet girl in foster! She has good appetite and enjoys kibble + some shredded chicken and rice.

She is a bit shy at first but definitely seems comfortable just resting in her new environment. She is so gentle and enjoys neck scritches and brushing. She also has tried to give me a few face kisses :)

She walks very well on leash and seems to have very good potty training. She has also done a few sits! Greta initially seems like an adaptable dog who is not afraid of new people (me) or her new environment. She walks confidently down the hall in our apartment complex and seems like she would be equally well suited for city life or in a proper house with a yard.

MORE FOSTER NOTES!

Greta is a very quiet, sweet girl who is generally friendly albeit sometimes a bit shy. She walks with a prance in her step and loves to stick her nose down squirrel nests…if only she could meet one face to face one day! She is well house trained but quite quiet and largely content to spend most of the day dozing or cuddling up to you under the blankets. She bonds well and has often followed me into the bathroom when I take a shower so she can keep me in her sights!

She will wag her tail with a respectful distance of strangers and dogs at the park, but due to her age, is not a fan of excited rough and tumble play or lots of handling; she is mostly content to say a quick “hello!” Greta is well socialized in stores and out to eat, but would likely prefer to be left alone at home. She adores the park and walks where she can find more squirrels.

She was recently confirmed to have seizures / epilepsy with blood work at the muttville vet and is on a regimen of a special diet and prescription in addition to her arthritis and anti-anxiety medications. As a very dainty girl, it’s been a bit challenging to trick her into taking the pills, but she tolerates it well.

Greta would likely do best with someone who is home often or can bring their dog to work. While her seizures are not frequent or severe, more like tremors/temblors, the condition may change over time and it would be good to monitor her closely. Greta would also likely appreciate a home without many stairs- while she is capable of jumping into the car or onto a bed, I’ve noticed she sometimes is tentative coming down. She is well suited for an apartment with an elevator. Based on her bathroom schedule, I would not recommend leaving Greta for more than 4-6 hours at a time unattended – she typically goes first thing in the morning, around noon, around dinner, and right before bed.
