Hello there, I’m Gnocchi, a sweet and loving 5-year-old pup who’s been
through quite the journey. My story began on the tough streets of Oakland, where I spent my early days as a stray.
It was a scary time for me, not knowing where my next meal
would come from or if I’d ever have a safe place to call home. But life had a different plan for me.
One day, I was picked up by the Oakland SPCA. I didn’t understand what was
happening, and being surrounded by so many other dogs was overwhelming. But
then, something amazing happened – a kind family decided to give me a chance.
They brought me to their big, beautiful house in El Cerrito, and I couldn’t believe
my luck. For the first time, I had a warm bed, a loving family, and a little girl who
was my best friend.
I thought I had finally found my forever home.
I cherished every moment with my new family. I gave them all the love I had, and
they became my whole world. But then, something called a “divorce” happened.
I don’t really know what that means, but I do know it made my family very sad. And
even though it broke their hearts, they decided they couldn’t keep me anymore.
So here I am, at 5-6 years old and 75 lbs, looking for a new family to love.
I’m neutered, up to date on all my vaccines, and just a dog who wants to be loved in return. Because of my past, I can sometimes be a little shy and slightly anxious
when I first meet new people. But once I realize that I can trust you, and that your
love is the real deal, I will give you my whole heart. Our bond will be deep, and I’ll
be the most loyal friend you could ever ask for.
I’m also non-reactive and get along wonderfully with other dogs, both big and
small. I’m great with kids and elderly people too. I just want to be part of a loving
family again, and I promise to fill your home with warmth and joy.
If you think you could be that person, please reach out to my friend Nat. He’s
been taking care of me and helping me find my way back to happiness.
I will note that Gnocchi has experienced a lot of change in recent months since being abandoned by his family, and with that, he has begun displaying some anxiety (some fear in urban settings, stubbornness leaving the car where he feels safe). I also understand from the person who had him before me that he can now be reactive with large male dogs (I have not seen this yet, and suspect this may have been a result of extreme lack of exercise with his previous care taker).
I don’t want to go back to the shelter – I want to go home.
Please give Nat a call at (603) 496-8163. I’m waiting with my tail wagging, hoping
that maybe, just maybe, you could be my new forever family.
With love and hope,
Gnocchi
