Gnocchi

#7951
Miniature Poodle
Male
Small (6-20 lbs)
Status: Adopted

Gnocchi is a sweet delicate little guy.

Gnocchi has a very calm polite way about him, and the most adorable little face. It seems as though he has been through a lot and cannot wait for him to find his very own home. Although shy, he does really enjoy people and loves to be held. He is very snuggly and will seek out the sun spots to lay in. This little lamb deserves all the love in the world and is so special. Gnocchi is blind and would be most comfortable in a quieter home who can understand the time he needs to come out of his shell. He is such a little love bug.

HERE’S WHAT HIS FOSTER HAD TO SAY:

This little guy seems a bit traumatized from all the changes and trauma he’s been through, so it will be interesting to see what kind of personality emerges when he’s ready to show it. Currently he is fairly passive and very cautious, which is natural considering his very limited eyesight. He’s started to carefully check out our house but he moves very slowly and carefully. I think he recognizes my voice but although he’s alert he isn’t yet showing signs of recognition. He flinches slightly at a sudden touch, but is relaxed when he’s picked up or held, and he likes belly rubs and ear scratches. If I want him near me, I carry him. Occasionally he emits a very sad cry — once when he couldn’t find his way back to our part of the house, and during the first night we had him. He’ll do best in a quiet home (preferably without stairs) with gentle owners.

While he seems to be in good shape, currently his activity level is low. I’ve not been able to take him for a walk. Being on the sidewalk makes him shake, and he lies down. We’ve made some progress to the bush outside our house, where he likes to pee. On the other hand, he could wander around our back yard for ours, exploring and hanging out in the bushes or lying in the sun. He coexists peacefully with our other senior dog, although at dinner time he’s puzzled about why our dog Bob eats so slowly — Noodles eats fast and when he’s done he watches Bob’s every bite.

We’ve had no accidents yet. I can’t tell how well he’s house-trained, because I make sure he gets lots of time outside. He does seem to know that the bush in front of our house is the place to “go.” Our dog sets a good example.

He is just looking for his special forever home.

Gnocchi is estimated to be 11 years young and weighs 11 lbs.
