Frida Kahlo is seven pounds of pure party, sporting a bright Chihuahua smile and enough spunk to power the whole block. Her front legs have their own little twist, but honestly, she rocks her walk and shows off moves that would win dance contests. She gives the warmest cuddles this side of the dog park… always ready to squeeze in for love, pets, or just one more cozy nap. Frida’s not letting anything get between her and a fun adventure. She’s your new queen of cuddles, and nobody sells the “adorable underdog with movie-star charm” quite like her!

Here’s some notes from her foster:

Just like the artwork of her namesake, Frida Kahlo is vibrant and full of passion! This youthful “senior” has been an absolute joy to foster because her zest for life is absolutely infectious.

Frida has only been in our household for a few days, but we can already tell she will make a wonderful companion for a very lucky family. She spends most of the day cuddling up to her human foster mom or her canine foster siblings. But throughout the day she’ll get little bursts of playful energy and enjoy hopping along for a walk, taking a ride in the car, or playing with stuffy toys.

We say hopping because Frida was born with two deformed front legs. One is significantly small and does not extend all the way to the ground so she’ll use it occasionally to balance but otherwise she mostly navigates as a 3 legged pup. Because she was born this way and does not appear to be in any pain…we’re just letting her rock on with her little nubs and she’s doing great. We do limit her time on harder surfaces to prevent skin irritation, but otherwise are happy to let her set her own limits.

When it comes to meal times, Frida is not picky and eats whatever is offered happily alongside her foster siblings with no issues. With just a few potty breaks a day, and if you have to leave for a few hours, she doesn’t mind as long as there is a comfy bed to nap in. Talk about an easy gal!

We don’t think Frida Kahlo had ever met a cat before she came to our house…and she’s still figuring out how she feels. Overall she’s content to leave them alone unless they look like they are doing something nefarious and then she might decide to chase them away but luckily it hasn’t been a bother for our confident dog-savvy kitties. A more shy cat might not feel the same.

As far as other dogs…we’ll need some time to figure out Frida’s best kind of companion. She’s a flirtatious little lady who has a preference for male dogs, but she is starting to show some interest in playing with my female dog…it just takes some time for them to figure each other out. After Frida is spayed and recovered from that, her preferences might change a little!
