Ever wish for a tiny companion with ears that could hear a whisper from miles away? Meet Emu, a distinguished little chihuahua with just a hint of gray in his tan face. At 10 pounds, he’s the perfect easy-to-carry sidekick for reading marathons or binge-watching “boring” TV episodes that suddenly feel epic with him by your side. Low-key and affectionate, Emu loves to snuggle, and his sweet, spry personality makes him friendly with other dogs too. Imagine drifting off for a nap together, waking refreshed, and realizing that the shared snooze was the highlight of your day. He’s well-mannered, easy to handle, and the kind of pup who makes calm afternoons feel extra special. Do you want a cozy, loving, tiny gentleman to be your partner in relaxation and quiet adventures? Emu is ready to curl up with you and steal your heart, one peaceful nap at a time.

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Emu is the absolute perfect little companion! He is a spunky little guy with great energy. He loves going for walks and spending time outside but is also happy to chill inside and snooze on the couch. He loves to follow us around the house and explore (he’s always looking for snacks) but has done perfect when left alone, he just quietly relaxes on the couch!

Speaking of quiet, we have only heard him bark a few times (when he has heard other dogs barking). We have seen him bark at other dogs a few times when he is on leash but he is otherwise very dog friendly. He is great with both our resident dog and our cat! He also gets along with the other dogs at Muttville and has met and gotten along with our friend’s dogs.

He loves to tag along on outings and does great in the car- we have taken him with us for drinks at the bar, to an outdoor music festival, and to a friend’s house with small kids! He lets us dress him up in silly outfits and he even let our friend’s 2-year-old pull him around in a tiny wagon. Emu is also potty trained! While we did have some indoor accidents early on when he was getting used to our space, he does seem to be fully potty trained (I would recommend using a belly band for at least his first few days in a new home while he gets used to things). We haven’t had any accidents indoors since he has figured out our routine.

He is such a happy and fun little guy and he has been such a perfect little snuggler that it’s totally worth the little bit of extra work :)
