Durango is one cool customer.

Durango is a very handsome gentleman with soulful big brown eyes. He looks at you like there is no one else in the world but you. Who wouldn’t love that?! He is a gentle and sweet guy who is quiet and polite. He wags his tail often and truly loves human friends. He does good with other dogs as well, and cats too! Durango is quite perfect and we know you will agree.

HERE’S WHAT HIS FOSTER HAS TO SAY!

Durango has adjusted quite well to his foster home! He is definitely a curious cattle dog who loves to follow you around to figure out what you’re doing*cue curious dog head tilts*. He doesn’t like to be alone when others are in the house, meaning that if you’re chilling in the living room he will emerge from his bed and come make sure to sit right next to you.

He takes a little bit of time to adjust to other humans, so it’s important to slowly and calmly let him check you out first to see if you’re cool- after that he just wants cuddles and scratches with you every second! He can get a bit startled if someone is coming home, probably because he’s fast asleep prior, and he will bark a bit but is fine after some consoling and affirmation that it is ok; I believe he will adjust once he notices schedules of his home (he no longer barks when people come home). He is terrified of loud noises and would do better in a home that is calm since I believe he has trauma from being a stray.

Durango is very intuitive and knows how to tell you he needs something from you just by looking at you with his big brown eyes (i.e. if he needs more water or needs to go outside). When on walks he likes to smell every new thing, but he will never pull aggressively to get to another dog or simply another smell; he is very content with walking side by side.

He is also very successful at relieving himself on walks and uses it as a great time to ‘take care of business’ (great news if you do not have access to a yard)! He’s very curious about other dogs but knows when he’s over the interaction, he isn’t a fan of aggressively playing dogs because he’s an old man dog with arthritis.

Because of his arthritis, he isn’t able to manage stairs safely and will need to be in home with no more than a couple of steps. His hind legs are pretty weak and he needs a ramp or needs to carried into the car, in the bath, onto a higher couch, etc.

Durango is not crate trained but he happily naps in his bed while he waits for you to come home along with sleeping through the night in said bed.

Durango is just the sweetest old man who is looking for a quiet, low-energy home where he can feel safe and loved!
