Meet Dr. Fred, a 6 year old shepherd mix that is a shelter staff favorite! He’s been with us for a while and we can’t understand why he hasn’t found his forever home.
This boy is a sweet, easy going fellow that received rave reviews from his foster family. Unfortunately, they had to leave the area but returned him with praise for his temperament, house manners, engagement with other dogs and people.
While in their care they took him on long walks or hikes daily, and noted that he integrated well with their existing dog, plus was fine when meeting other dogs. He was low maintenance, enjoyed a good scratch/cuddle, and spent his in-home time snoozing on a big pillow. Dr. Fred was always an eager walking companion, and an easy keeper around the house and yard. He was quick with training and loved being part of a family.
Dr. Fred is ready for a home with patience, play time, and lots of love. As with many dogs that have been in shelters for long periods of time, his wonderful personality may take a while to emerge, but once it does he’s a lover and a leaner. If you are looking for a dog with all the incredible qualities of a Shepherd – loyalty, companionship, intelligence and athleticism – then Dr. Fred is your boy. Shepherd’s may have a high prey drive, so Dr. Fred is probably best suited for a home without cats or small dogs. Please come and visit him, he’s available for foster or adoption.
