With the zest of a world-traveling adventurer and the charm of a seasoned socialite, Domingo is a pint-sized Maltese whose amazing smile and peppy presence can light up any room. Friendly to all (with humans and fellow canines alike), this affectionate gent insists on discovering every corner and sniffing out life’s mysteries, perhaps drawing from his days as a famed explorer in another life. Domingo’s boundless curiosity means he’s always up for a new adventure, even if it’s just chasing sunbeams across the living room but he never turns down a cozy spot next to his favorite people. His moderate exercise needs are a perfect match for strolls around the block, and his spry demeanor guarantees every outing comes with a dash of fun and a sparkle of surprise.

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Domingo is a GREAT sleeper. He was able to recognize which bed was his and which was ours. While he preferred ours and shared it with us during the day, he crashed in his bed overnight. Most days I had to wake him up like a teenager.

First thing he does is go outside to do his business and then he ventures back to sleep until about lunch time. He does this like clock work. He wakes up again around 1pm and walks around until dinner time. He enjoyed being picked up and carried around the house like a baby! He likes looking out the window at people passing so he probably would do great with some type of cat tree or furniture near a window.

This guy can put in miles! We usually took a mile long walk in the mornings (hence the long morning nap), another mile at lunch, and a brisk little walk in the evenings. He has tons of energy but it will be important for his next family to recognize when to call it quits. I’m not sure he has it in him to know when to stop. We went for a 2.5 mile walk one afternoon and he slept all evening, overnight, and the rest of the next day. We learned he does better in bite sized walks.

Domingo’s routine works best in a lowkey environment. He did great at our house, where we have limited foot traffic and lots of peace and quiet. Domingo gets overstimulated by sounds / people / dogs on occasion. Usually it’s because he loves other dogs and house guests! We had some friends pop over one morning and he was in their laps about 10 minutes later. He’s extremely friendly and wants everyone to know what a good boy he is!
