A beautiful gentleman has arrived at Muttville! With his German Shepherd face and ears, beautiful coloring, and short, squatty physique, at 62 pounds, his true lineage remains a bit of a mystery to us. Rumor has it he spent the last several years cavorting about San Francisco, Marin and Sausalito, enjoying his job as a city tour guide on the Hop-on Hop-off bus. At about 13 years young, we think handsome Dojo may have hopped on and off one time too many, as he has developed just a slight bit of arthritis in his hip area. But this does not slow him down or get him down one bit! Dojo is a calm, mellow laid back dude who loves attention and loves his treats. He was such a hit in Oakland that a whole community of people supported him on his journey to Muttville. This kind of mass adoration for a gentle soul like Dojo speaks volumes for the very special, very good boy he is. When you come visit Muttville, Dojo will happily welcome you and will be glad to visit with you!
Here are some great notes from his foster family:
Dojo is the sweetest, most loving, well-behaved good boy! He is perfectly potty trained. He has no issues when I have to be in the office for 9 hours. He also prefers some sort of earth for his potty time – no peeing on fire hydrants for this angel! He has zero aggression or reactivity to people, animals, or noises. I haven’t heard him bark once! The most I have heard from him is the most adorable snores and once he accidentally closed himself in the bathroom and made the sweetest tiny squeak whines to let me know he needed help.
I have a senior Shepherd mix Bowie, and they are the best buds, even with Bowie giving me sad eyes for having to share my attention. Dojo does not chew, scratch, or try to reach anything on counters or chairs. However, watch out if there is any food at his eye level – he considers that fair game and I can’t blame him!
He takes treats from my hand well. We’re still learning if he has commands for sit, stay, come, etc, but once he realizes I’m speaking to him he is very attentive and eager to please. Dojo is the perfect blend of being independent and also wanting attention. He is perfectly happy doing his own thing, and he loves to be involved with anything I’m doing if I’ll allow him.
I prefer to have pups sleep in bed with me at night and Dojo loves it. One night I fell asleep before lifting him up into bed with me, and he had no issues sleeping on his dog bed. He didn’t even guilt me when we woke up! He loves to sunbathe while he naps, snuggle into bedding, and get head cuddles from his dawg Bowie. Today we went on a long lunch walk to the park – he was the happiest boy. He has even started giving tail wags!
Anyone who has the opportunity to bring Dojo into their family will quickly realize he is the perfect addition they didn’t even know they were missing. I can’t say enough good things about him, he is the jackpot.
