Dixie is 100% dreamboat! She has the flawless eyeliner, big floppy ears, and gorgeous tricolor coat of a hound supermodel (and a sonorous hound dog bay to boot). However, she’s not just pretty on the outside: Dixie is sweet, friendly and an overall good good girl! She’s previously lived with kids and other dogs and would be happy to join a forever family with either or both.

HERE’S WHAT HER FOSER HAS TO SAY!

My heart has been stolen by many dogs, but never as quickly as with Dixie. You might be wondering how she accomplished this. Well, I have listed out the possible reasons for the record-breaking speed of this heart thief:

- Her big expressive brown eyes and eyebrows, as well as those adorable forehead wrinkles.

- Her easy-going, calm, and gentle demeanor. It feels like she’s been with us for months, not days, because of how easily she fit into the pace of our home. She is happy to nap on the couch while you work, and doesn’t fret when you leave her at home.

- She is a joy to walk. She likes a mellow walk-n-sniff around the neighborhood – we’ve been going 2-3 times a day, about mile each walk. Her leash manners are impeccable, and she’s very polite when meeting other dogs and people we encounter. She’s mostly disinterested in playing with other dogs – she is a dignified older lady after all, but she’ll sometimes give a sniff hello. Word is she got along perfectly with all the other dogs at Muttville too.

- Her excellent manners extend to inside the home. In my experience with her, she is reliably house-trained.

- She gently nuzzles my hand for pets, or puts her paw on my arm and looks at me with those beautiful eyes to let me know it’s definitely not time to stop giving gentle scratches.

- She sleeps in a soft bed on the floor of our bedroom at night, where she sleeps through the night, gently (and adorably) snoring.

- She loves food and is not a picky eater. And she will show off her training for treats (like sit, lie down, and shake)! She takes treats so gently that my toddler loves to give them to her. Oh, that’s another important point! She is wonderful with little children!

It’s clear that Dixie had a family that really, really loved her and took great care of her. She’s so well-adjusted and she deserves the most loving, caring person or people for her new beginning.
