If Darae’s life could be summed up in one word, it would be “Underrated.”
Rescued as a puppy from a high-kill shelter in 2014, Darae’s early years were marked by hardship. She endured severe starvation and a skin infection that took months to heal. Yet, after her recovery, she blossomed into a loving, cheerful pup, full of energy and hope for a new life. She was ready for adoption, but sadly, the opportunity never came. Because she was larger than the other puppies and wasn’t as young as many people preferred, Darae was overlooked time and again. Instead of finding a home, she was sent to our shelter, where she has spent the last 10 years waiting for the family she so deeply deserves.
Despite the years of waiting, Darae has remained a sweetheart, full of affection and kindness. She loves leaning against the fence to greet volunteers, always eager to share her love with anyone who walks by. In her younger days, she was a bundle of energy, zooming through the hallways of the shelter during her brief moments of freedom. Now, as she has matured, her temperament has softened into a more gentle and sweet nature. She enjoys following people around, constantly seeking pets and attention. Her love is unwavering, and she makes it clear with every wag of her tail and every hopeful look in her eyes.
Darae has also learned to get along well with other dogs. She has shared her kennel with other dogs over the years without any issues. Her gentle demeanor makes her an excellent companion to other dogs. Though she may not have had the chance to live in a home, she has lived peacefully with others, showing her calm and balanced nature.
Having spent her entire life in a shelter environment, Darae will need some guidance with housebreaking and potty training. However, her easygoing personality and willingness to bond with people give us great hope that she will adapt quickly to a new home. She walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides, which means she is ready to start a new chapter of her life filled with the love and care she has been waiting for all these years.
