Crimped hair was popular back in the 80’s and 90’s, but, much like many things these days, it can be delightfully retro as our new Shih Tzu mix can attest. His silky white fur shows that crimped hair is still in style today (or, even if it isn’t, we don’t have the heart to break it to our cutie, Crimped). This mellow mutt was found as a stray, just wandering the streets, and we couldn’t be happier that he’s found his way to Muttville. This senior sweetie has been polite with the other dogs and friendly with the more human inhabitants – we hear he DEFINITELY loves butt scratches. Are you looking to resurrect a 90’s trend? If so, may we suggest a pup that’s Crimped?
Here’s some notes from his foster:
He walks on his leash like a gentleman at an unhurried pace. Probably does his business within the first 5-10 minutes of the walk. So far, we’ve only gone around the block, but we’ve done this 4 times a day. He trots along happily. He’s unfazed by people and dogs. Just ambles along his way.
While he will negotiate a step or two, he so far has not been enthusiastic about stairs. You’ll have to be the human elevator. I left crimped home alone for a few hours today, and am happy to report that there was no destruction in the house. He’s only barked once, when I accidentally snagged one of his mats when brushing to him. People will have to stay on top of his grooming.
Overall, he’s a pretty sweet and mellow boy. Enjoys his short walks, the naps in between. He does like being close to you, but is not overly clingy. And he loves getting his pets.
