Is that a bird? A plane? Cosmo the telepathic superdog? No, it’s Muttville’s very own Cosmo! Cosmo comes to us from the Lost Lake, where I’m sure he was on an important mission, but was picked up as the cutest little coyote you ever did see. Cosmo’s enormous ears are finely tuned so that he never misses a beat, and he has the most adorable tongue protruding from the left side of his mouth. He enjoys a good cuddle and has been getting along swimmingly with the other dogs at Muttville. He is a demure and gentlemanly little guy, with very polite manners and an attitude of perfect calm. Although this superdog may be retired, he will still be able to save the day for one lucky owner! Could it be you?

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Cosmo is a gentle soul and super laid back. He’s not a barker, and the only time he’s barked is because he wants more cheese. He is potty trained and he’s not had an accident once! He’s great on a leash, and although slow to walk, he clearly enjoys it with a little pep in his step once he gets going.

He is a snuggler and a little shadow. He tries to get as close to me as possible when he sleeps on the bed at night, and he’s got an old-man snore. He also doesn’t mind being held or snuggling in a sling.

Cosmo is well-behaved: I’ve taken him to my physical therapy appointments or errands riding on the bus, and he just falls asleep. I don’t have to worry about him in the PT office because he’s very polite and greets everyone while exploring his surroundings. When he’s done, he comes looking for me, checks that I’m still around, and then goes off exploring again. At home, if he’s not following or watching me do house things, he goes to his bed and naps.

Cosmo has been a wonderful companion in our home. He gets along beautifully with adults, a 12-year-old child, and two resident cats. We recently adopted a puppy, and Cosmo has taken on the role of calm older brother—showing him the ropes when it comes to city walks and potty breaks.

We have found that a licking mat or treat puzzle helps keep him content while you’re away, and he’s happy to nap until you return. Cosmo doesn’t react to loud noises (being deaf helps!), and has snoozed peacefully through a three-hour movie.

Cosmo just wants to be close. He especially loves curling up next to you at night and sleeps soundly by your side.
