Here’s some notes from his foster:
What a wonderful little guy! Cornbread is a delight. Gentle, sweet, curious. His eyes and ears aren’t tip top, but that doesn’t prevent him from getting around just fine and enjoying life.
He is vision impaired but is still able to see some light. Despite that he does really well both inside and outside. Within 24 hrs of being here he had mapped out the apartment and yard so that he could move around easily, know where his food and water bowls are, find his bed, the doors and so on. He did the same thing with navigating my little yard. But he is not able to do stairs.
He likes to go out for short walks and sniff, although it must be said he takes his time. If you are looking for a hiking buddy or long walks around the neighborhood, that is not his thing. He does enjoy exploring the smells and textures of the neighborhood park.
He LOVES treats! He also was recently introduced to a snuffle mat and that was a huge hit. Got squeaky toys? He digs those too! (the squeakier the better) When he’s not occupied with treats and toys, he likes snuggling on the couch and sleeping next to his person in bed.
Cornbread does great being left alone! He’s not a barker and really doesn’t make much noise. Just be prepared when you get home for a rapturously excited greeting.
He is a good eater and is housebroken. He sleeps through the night and is not an early riser. He is friendly and trusting with adult humans if they give him space to check them out. He also is ok with dogs saying hello, but he’s not interested in playing with them. He is also politely neutral to cats!
His favorite thing is burrowing under blankets and snuggling. Adorable. He has a great wag and the cutest nose freckle. Cornbread is getting more confident and playful every day and will be a wonderful companion. I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know him and his sweet spirit.
