Cordelia is a muttastic gal! One ear up, one down, perpetually wagging tail, happy face and a lovely smile make for a charming combo. This pretty lady loves hanging out with people, get pets and just being together; she also gets along with dogs of all sizes. We’re not sure what breeds make up the glorious stew of Cordelia (probably some lab), but we do know it resulted in a very good girl!

Here’s what her foster mom has to say!

Cordelia is just dreamy – the dog you see in a great movie – chill, eager to please, attentive when you want her to be, quiet when you just need a friend nearby. She’s the type of girl you see snoozing in a local cafe on the mat or riding shotgun driving through the mountains. Her tail wags loosely and often.

Cordelia came into my home so easy and settled in almost immediately. She scanned the rooms, quickly learned where her bed was, and has taken to the cozy comfort. (With a blankie of course – her favorite!)

One of her greatest attributes is her age and abilities – she has all the calmness of an early senior but the swiftness and capabilities of a younger dog. She isn’t puppy-like but gets playful at the right moments (food and walks!) and remains calm when you just want to sit around and lounge. She’s instantly loyal – within 12 hours she settled into the foster mom/dog bond that happens. But the bonding doesn’t come from a place of desperation just appreciation. She’s absolutely great at being there when you want her to be and taking it easy when you don’t. There haven’t been any “no” or “don’t” or “stops” since she arrived.

Fully potty trained. GREAT with all people. She met 4 members of my family from age 88 to 6 and she just greeted everyone with an enthusiastic tail wag and a return walk-by later for a head pet.

Two observations to get her into the right home. She is going to need to be in a home without feline friends – her working dog instinct kicks in and she has the drive to chase.

Also, she will guard her food but only when it comes to other dogs. Not humans. This can be alleviated where she is the sole pup in the home (she hasn’t once even so much as blinked angrily in my direction so has a trust of humans). Or for the right home with the right second pup, she would be good just they would need to be fed separately with bowls picked up after they finished.

Her “other dog” behavior is in progress – she isn’t a dog that you are instantly going to feel 100% comfortable dropping into a doggie play date with loads of other dogs – not because she has done anything and isn’t the sweetest but she does give some mixed signals. She wags her tail and seems to love other dogs but she does raise her hair so it is something to watch to learn her cues. She has met (off-leash and on) other dogs in my building and on walks. She just sniffs and wags her tail but with her hair up so I watch very closely. She was in a foster home with another dog and they were fine together (besides the food guarding). She has an overall interest on walks with other dogs so I really believe it is just more associations than any real aggression or alpha behavior. Girl just wants some friends!

Whomever she goes with will need to walk her because she enjoys it so much – she wouldn’t be ideal with someone who wants her to just lounge around the house (which she is happy to do) and hit the backyard once in awhile. She goes for the door often and her walks are keeping her young and happy.

Cordelia is just a dream girl. She’s my kinda gal – sweet, gentle, loving with a bit of sass to make you smile. She is going to be an incredible partner for someone!
