Who doesn’t love Cool Whip? Fluffy and sweet and so irresistible… no we’re not talking about the dessert topping, we’re talking about Cool Whip the senior mutt! He’s a cute white fluff who loves to amble around and explore. He has impaired vision, but it doesn’t hold him back from finding his way to interesting smells and loving cuddles.
Here’s a note from his foster!
Cool Whip is super smart and already on a routine after a short time of living with us!
Once he’s familiar with the environment, he’s able to walk up/down 2-3 steps without any issues on his own at a slow pace. He’s very inquisitive, starts to explores the house on a small radius while circling back around to check on me, and simply loves to be cradled with lots of affection, kisses, and attention.
He can sleep alone in an open crate but if he wakes up at night, he likes to sleep in bed with me. I’m sure he’d love to sleep in bed every night with us but I am trying to test him with some night time independence.
Cool Whip enjoys short walks and car rides. He loves hanging out with me while I am running errands or volunteering at the local food pantry or food drive. I have him in a dog backpack on my back with the top mesh open so he can enjoy pets from people or smell the fresh air. He also enjoys being in a pet sling so he can be close to me and heart my heartbeat.
He loves his prepared meal and enjoys treats. In the morning, he needs a little time to warm up and for his legs to catch up with the rest of his body but once he gets going, he’s a happy to explore.
He does have some alone time anxiety so he’ll need some time and patience to help him build confidence in that area.
During his stay with us, I’ve noticed he isn’t completely blind but does have vision impairment due to cataracts in both eyes. He also isn’t completely deaf since he can hear my voice and will slowly seek me out in the backyard and while I’m in another room.
When he’s happy, he rolls on his back for belly rubs and it’s the cutest thing!
