White as snow and sweeter than sugar, Colette is our superstar mutt in search of a place to call home. She has all of the qualities and behaviors of a perfect dog. House trained? Check. Able to do stairs? Check. Can be left home alone for a few hours? Check. We could go on about how perfect Colette is but we have other bios to write. If you’re looking for a mellow and beautiful Maltese who likes to go with the flow, you must adopt Colette.

Here’s some notes from her foster:

She loves heading outdoors for a walk around town and immediately starts to clear her sinuses at the first glimpse of her harness and leash. She’s able put in some miles too! She walked about 2 miles with me nonstop but I bet she could’ve gone more than that! She does get a bit anxious at street crossings and isn’t a fan of loud noises.

She absolutely is a fan of food! She happily scarfed down her meals I like to add a bit of water turning it into a soup. This helps her get more fluids during the day. She would benefit from a raised feeder and water bowl.

As much as she loves mealtimes she equally loves treats! We’ve been working on some commands and her food motivation is incredibly helpful for this. She had just started to get the hang of sit and heel during my short stay with her.

We’ve been heading out to my dog run 4 times a day along with a walk thrown in sometimes. Her schedule for going to the dog run right now is 9am-10am, 1pm-2pm, 5pm-6pm, and 10pm-11pm. She’s made it thru the night without accidents night that I’ve had her.

Like I mentioned above, she sleeps thru the night like a champ! She absolutely would love to cuddle her human in bed but will also snuggle up in her bed on the ground if necessary. Not without letting you know how incredibly disappointed she is though.

I haven’t had the opportunity to really leave her home alone much. She seems like a pup who’d be best suited to someone looking for a sidekick to take with them everywhere but with her food motivation she could be trained to handle separation.

She is one heck of a pup! She mostly just wants to sleep the day away curled up with her human. She did show some slight resource guarding behavior with my 20 year old cat but then she also repeatedly snuggled up to her so she’s a bit of an enigma when it comes to sharing space with another furry friend.
