Warning: this happy goofball is too cute to look at directly. If you gaze for too long at her giant ears and adorable blep, you could be at risk of bringing her home and loving her forever. If you think you’ll be safe because she’s not very mobile, guess again. Before you know it Clarence will be scoot scooting across your bedroom floor and you’ll be powerless to resist her cuddles. You were warned.

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Clarence is the sweetest cuddle bug! He loves a warm lap but also independently gets comfy in his bed and blanket if you’re busy doing something at home. He is generally a low energy couch potato but perks up if you’re in the kitchen cooking. Because he is a cuddler, he wants to sleep close to us in the middle of the bed, and trades off between mom and dad cuddles throughout the night.

He loves food and treats. He does not like to drink water, but being that he is toothless, we add plenty of water in his food so he can lick it up and that keeps him well hydrated. Clarence eats well and we feed him 3 times a day, as we found he prefers to leave half his breakfast to come back for second breakfast later in the morning. Due to his back legs, we’ve found that if we elevate his food bowl a little off the floor it makes it easier for him to eat.

Despite his limited mobility with his back legs, Clarence loves to scoot around on his front legs, and he can actually move quite fast on our wood floors without slipping and sliding much. He also does not appear to be or act like he is in pain due to his back legs.

When it comes to potty, we help Clarence find his perfect potty spot by carrying him to a few different spots for him to sniff, and he generally goes pretty quickly. He is able to lift himself with his front legs and does really well to avoid any mess. We try to avoid having him scoot around outside as much as possible so he doesn’t hurt his back legs or paws.

Clarence did very well being carried in a bag since he likes to be close to you. He also did very well with a bath.

Clarence isn’t a big fan of loud noises and unfortunately we live on a pretty busy street in SF. It does take him longer to potty if there’s a lot of activity going on with cars and people walking around, and we’ve found that he strongly dislikes bikes, so he will bark at a bike any chance he can get. We haven’t had the opportunity to test him out with other dogs or cats yet, but at Muttville he did do ok with other doggos!
