Male
Large (50-90 lbs)

Goof, derp, lover of life. Cjay’s loving, loyal, funny – he’s a tongue flopping, trotting next to you kind of bestie. He’s a great hybrid dog who loves to enjoy the great outdoors and go on walks, play ball (especially play ball!) and roll in the grass (and sometimes he’ll even play ball WHILE rolling in the grass – whoaaaa the innovation!). But he also is a chill couch potato who likes to cozy in and watch TV or chew a bone. Everyone who meets Cjay falls in love with him – he’s one of those special dogs who doesn’t lack for personality haha, keeps you laughing and LOVES with his whole heart once he knows you, turning an excited wiggle-butt into a whole body event when he sees his human-friends.

Cjay has been in limbo without a home for the past three years due to no fault of his own after his first “family” left him heartbroken which at 10 years old now, is just too long (times are tough for adoptable older guys, even the great ones!). The good news is that Cjay is quite healthy and has lots more life to live — in fact, no one who knows Cjay believed his age when a microchip aged him older than expected. He is currently fostered by a wonderful trainer and comes with the strong skillset that can only be obtained by being in an advanced board and train and is officially a canine good citizen (we are all so proud!). He is the perfect balance of well-trained while maintaining his silly spirit and personality. After all his patience, he deserves the best family ever once and for all.

In the words of his trainer/foster:

“He’s like a kid who never outgrew his favorite stuffed animal, he’s always seeking connection and giving his whole heart. When I look at him, and see through his droopy eyes, I see a second chance at life, a world where it means to be kind, to trust, and to find joy in the little things. I never really thought much of it, but when I see Cjay run like the wind on his morning bike rides or go barreling into the bushes in the open fields, there’s something very poetic about the way he lives. It’s always the small things that make him happy, the unlikeliest of places like finding a patch of grass and rolling around like it’s the greatest treasure in the world. In those moments, he reminds me that happiness doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s in the simple and honest things that show the true meaning of happiness that show even the scars can heal, and even the roughest patches in our lives can lead to something beautiful.”

The Cjay Stats:

Neutered, vetted + up to date on vaccines 10 yrs old. 86 lbs.

Currently lives with a cat

Has come to appreciate and even play with calm, respectful dogs (given he was previously bitten in the face by a dog, he does not like high energy dogs who get all up in his business)

Is NOT a barker

Knows who he is and owns his Cjay-ness fully ;)

Super grateful for every little kindness and privilege he gets

Loves butt scratches

Likes car rides and being invited along for the journey

Crate trained and will come with his own favorite crate

Cjay’s love language is food!

Has his PhD in training

Cjay has a fan club!

For the right home, Cjay has a sponsor who will cover vet care and food for life!

Cjay’s new family will receive free training and support from his current trainer to teach them what Cjay knows and make the transition to his forever home smooth :)

The right home for Cjay will be with strong leaders with a kind heart who will:

Maintain his existing training and boundaries for consistency to continue to set him up for success

Love senior dogs and see his age as making him that much more deserving of the best home ever!

Want a dog who will be your best bud and make him a genuine part of the family

Have no other dogs or another calm, respectful dog (kitty friends are ok too!)

Cjay is the kind of guy who loves to give high fives to get a tasty treat! Smart, funny, yes a little bit drooly ;) — he’s a special dude who’s had a rough shake who would love to find his perfect family to make it up to him.

This is a courtesy post. Cjay is not a Muttville dog. If you are interested in adopting Cjay and want to learn more about him, please contact: 310.919.6956 kelseadavis24@gmail.com.
