Don’t let the name fool you… this little guy may be named Chat, but he’s more of a soulful listener than a talker. A gentle, easygoing chihuahua with the chill of a yoga instructor on vacation, he’s the type who wants to be involved in whatever you’re doing but won’t micromanage. Sorting laundry? He’s supervising from the sock pile. Reading a book? He’s curled next to you, critiquing your taste in fiction. Chat is deeply interested in you and all your quirks, habits and snack routines, and he’s looking for a front-row seat to the rest of your life. He gets along swimmingly with other dogs but clearly thinks humans are the real main characters. This soft-eyed cuddle connoisseur is overdue for the kind of love that sticks. Wouldn’t it be nice to be truly seen by someone who just wants to be near you?
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Chat is a low energy chill type of guy. He mostly will nap all day. He actually has great stamina for walking slowly around and sniffing (left to his own devices, up to 30-60 minutes). He does great alone – actually settles down and finds it easier to sleep/rest when others are not around distracting him!
He is mostly blind (maybe 80%) – likes to “map things out” by walking in circles in a new space, gently using his ears as bumpers. His working eye has partial vision, which means I can sometimes wave at him to get his attention or direct him.
He loves gentle pets and scratches, especially on the head/ears/neck. He enjoys walking downhill – hates walking uphill! (can’t get over curbs/steps/thresholds well) Loves to sniff and stop and smell the roses – literally and figuratively. He loves treats and is clearly a ‘scavenger by nature’ – cheese, meat bits, soft chewy dog treats, etc. – burger meat chunks an all time favorite!
Chat is SO sweet and gentle: a bit shy/nervous overall but would never hurt a fly. He warms up gradually and seems like he’s warming up to the idea of cuddles. He makes great company: follows me around when I’m puttering, unloading the dishwasher, taking a shower, or tidying up. He’s truly a great companion.
I don’t think he’s ever barked! Every now and then he will make a cute little yawn, sneeze, or cough. He whimpered in car rides in a carrier, but that’s it. He’s a great sleeper: pretty much always sleeps through the night! Yay Chat!
