Seeking open adoption or shared care for sweet, beautiful older papillon who can no longer be left alone!
Charlie is a super-sweet 15 year old papillon (9 lbs.). He’s very beautiful and still quite spry. Even at his advanced age, people still think he’s a puppy. He’s friendly and would never be aggressive with any person or other animal. He’s gotten pretty deaf, and he’s no longer reliable about toilet training, so we diaper him at night.
Our problem is that we can no longer leave him alone, and we need to leave the house for work or evening engagements or sometimes longer term travel.
When there’s anyone in the house, he’s fine, but when he’s alone, he barks constantly. We tried medication, but if he wakes up alone he goes into another barking fugue.
We are looking for someone who is generally home and would appreciate the company to do some kind of open adoption or shared care with us (we’re in South Berkeley). We are very flexible about what might work. What is clear is that the current situation isn’t sustainable, but we don’t want to cut ties with him.
