If you’re looking for a sweet older shih tzu who is the canine equivalent of Dobby the house elf, look no further than our classic cutie, Carolina! This little lady is 14 years old, giving off a strong vibe of a matronly grandmother who would bake you cookies and knit you sweaters. Carolina is a bit on the shyer side, looking for a forever home where she can retire to her metaphorical rocking chair in the sun and peacefully nap the day away. She’s been exhibiting only the best of manners, which you would expect from a well-bred mutt such as she, maintaining a respectful distance from the other pups. Carolina is open to gentle introductions and has been fine with the other doggos, but it’s clear that she’s more of a wallflower than the life of the party. Which is okay – Carolina only needs one perfect person in her life, to snuggle and cuddle and walk with (and knit and bake for…) – if you think it could be you, come meet this demure damsel today!

I have had the pleasure of fostering Carolina for a week now and she is a treasure! She is a shy and reserved little girl, but super cuddly once she trusts you. She is in fact, laying in my lap as I write this! She would do best in a calm and quiet home with someone is ok to take things a little slow in the beginning. Seeing her little tail wag for pets is well worth it!
Carolina is okay for short outside jaunts, but also really loves to see the world for the comfort of a sling. She is pretty relaxed for car rides and would make a lovely and easily portable travel companion to your local park, restaurant or winery. Carolina has done very well with all 3 of my dogs, big and small. I think she would benefit from having a respectful canine companion to cuddle and spend time with. With regular outside potty breaks, she has only had a couple of accidents in the house.
Carolina can be a picky eater. Upon arrival I learned that she mostly prefers dry food to wet and eats a few smaller portions throughout the day. Carolina has blended seamlessly into our life and routine. Anyone would be lucky to welcome this beautifully well mannered gal into their home and heart!
