While Muttville volunteers were out scouring the world for the most wonderful mutts for Carnaval, they came across an absolute gem in the Caribbean: Calypso! This gorgeous, multicolored chihuahua has the stunningly luscious locks that you rarely see outside of a shampoo commercial. Her fuzzy tan ears are constantly perked to hear what is going on, but this demure dame prefers to sit comfortably on the couch and observe her kingdom rather than investigate too closely. With that being said, your lap is part of her kingdom and she’d love nothing more than to curl up and sit a spell. Which works out well for you, as this gentle mutt is reminiscent of your softest childhood teddy bear. Calypso is a delightful cuddle bug who has grand plans to fall in love as deeply with her future guardian(s) as they do with her. She arrived in our home feeling a little shy in a new environment and spent the day sleeping in our other room. By day 2, she started to become curious of her surroundings and immediately integrated with our cats! Once she became comfortable with our home, she prefers full access to the home to choose a spot to snooze while the humans are away – no baby gate needed! She was a little nervous on the car ride home and has done very well in the car since!
Calypso’s time indoors is spent following humans around and taking a snooze in a comfy dog bed. She enjoys her just food for dogs beef and potato and is a super fan of canned chicken. She has not shown interest in the treats we have at home and will quietly watch her humans eat their meals. She respectfully waits for humans to have time in their day to give her all the pets, giving your hand a little nudge if you stop too soon (why stop at all?) and occasionally lying on her side for some belly rubs. She also is learning how to navigate doggy stairs in the home and has gone up and down herself a few times! She’s enjoys sleeping in our bed and sleeps through the night, easily rivaling any snorer in the household with her own.
Calypso also loves her walks! Every tree and lamp post must be sniffed and she will mark. A trip around a block or two is ideal! It is such a joy seeing her enjoy herself on these leisure strolls. We believe she’s potty trained and has had one accident in the house when we took too long to get her outside. She can do 2-3 steps easily and prefers to be carried if there’s more than that.
Calypso wears her heart on her sleeve with deep adoration for her human(s) and would love a home where she’s just as cherished!
