Buddy System, a very handsome MinPin, is a poster dog for the simple brilliance of togetherness in the name of survival. Canine friendship has always been a constant for this sweet chap, and he thrives on human cuddles. Throw in a piece of cheese here and there and he’s a very happy good boy. Buddy has the pep and agility of a younger pup and the ears and eyebrows of matinee idol. He also has a very lovely tenderness that is impossible to miss. You’ll see.

Here’s some notes from his foster:

Buddy System is a sweet little boy! For the most part he has been very good about waiting to go potty until he’s outside. He’s definitely getting the hang of things.

He seemed to be slightly upset when I’d leave the room at first. That went away after a couple of hours, after which he seemed content to just lay around. He sticks pretty close to me, preferring to be in the same room or at least know where I am.

He’s a smart pup who managed to escape from my room and get into the garage! I’m still not exactly sure how he did it, but he’s also thwarted the baby gate I have a few times. If he needs to be secured for any reason, I’d double check those barriers!

He and my dog Blueberry have been indifferent to each other for the most part. They don’t really seem to mind sharing space, but they don’t really engage with each other. When we saw other dogs out on our walk, he was a perfect gentleman. I live with a cat who is admittedly a bit of a jerk. Buddy System seemed interested in him and I’m not sure if he recognized the cat’s “stay away” signals, but he didn’t fixate on him or bark at him, and he came back to me quickly when I called him.

He’s a burrower! He slept in the bed with me and in the early hours he wanted to be completely under the covers. He seems to also really dig squeaky and crinkly toys. I also wanted to mention is that he is a champ with stairs!

Buddy is so polite on leash! We went for a pack walk this morning with my 16y/o dog who moves pretty slowly, and he was mostly just letting her set the pace. We passed by other dogs and he was curious but not aggressively so. He didn’t pull at all and responded almost immediately to very light tension on the leash.

Buddy is great in the car. He didn’t need any prompting either, he seemed super comfortable just jumping in and was super calm during the ride. He is a bona fide snuggle bug. When I dropped him off for the adoption event, he was shaking and seemed nervous, and I just want everyone that sees him to know that at home he wants to be in your lap or pressed up against you or generally sharing space. Such a good boy!
