Meet Blanco! This spunky, small and loving adult Chihuahua mix is looking for a new home after being surrendered to the shelter by his family of over 5 years. Blanco is still learning that not all humans are scary, so he’ll need a patient family willing to give him time to settle into his new environment and routine. Once Blanco realizes he can trust you, his true playful personality shines! He loves going on walks and hikes, and gets the cutest short bursts of playful energy before snuggling up on the couch for belly rubs. He is truly the perfect balance of adventure-seeking and homebody.
Blanco’s foster family is helping him overcome his separation anxiety, making progress with gradual alone time, distractions, and positive reinforcement but he would do best with a family that is home often. He finds comfort in the company of his foster brother (a 3-year-old resident dog) and often follows him from room to room when home alone.
Blanco would thrive in an adult-only family or one with older children who understand dogs. He would love another mature dog sibling (or cat sibling!) to help continue to build his confidence and keep him company when home alone. With a patient family who understands how confusing these changes can be for a dog, Blanco will continue to thrive and be the most loving companion!
