Is it too much to want an ultra-handsome dog with the smile, poise, turnout, social graces and agility of a retired ballet dancer without the diva vibes or bad feet? Not at all! He’s sitting – politely, on command – before us, waiting to get your number. Bird Dog, an English Coonhound-terrier mix, exemplifies the best of both breeds. Sleek, with perfect brows and an athletic build, he is undaunted in his mission to please all humans while gathering as much affection and approval as possible. His terrier side is perky, wicked smart and mildly unrestrained in his attempts to befriend all dogs in his realm. He’s up for long hikes, off-road adventures and 4-legged races. Stairs? ’Natch. In sum, he’s pretty perfect. Visit him today!
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Bird Dog (Birdie) is such a loving creature looking for his safe space. Three adjectives I’d use to describe him are affectionate, slightly shy, and willing to go!
He’s a mobile senior with a good balance of activity and rest. He loves a walk (a chance to meet and greet new people—his favorite!) and can go at a good pace for a few miles if you want. He is agile—can easily get up on beds and chairs, and up/down stairs (when invited to do so).
When he first got to my home, he showed some reservations about the new environment (predictable in rescue situations). Still, as soon as he found his safe space (you), he melted! He just wants to be loved and that is easy because he is such a loving guy.
He loves other dogs, and during his time with me, showed a lot of interest and excitement for new friends. He is quite playful so socializing will be good and will come easy for him.
Birdie has excellent restraint and recall. He wants to please, so clear guidance will quickly establish good manners.
Overall, Birdie is a great guy who will do well with someone or a family who can help him through the transition from rescue.
