Bijou was standing in the middle of her kennel when I walked by her kennel. I was immediately taken by her beauty but I also saw a profound sadness in her eyes… I looked at her kennel card and realized that she had just been surrendered by her owners because they were moving.
I brought Bijou to the yard in hopes of lifting her spirit. But sadly all she did was pace around the yard, constantly looking out the fence as if she’s looking for her family. I didn’t have the heart to tell her— though I sensed she already knew—that they are not coming back for her… How sad it is for Bijou to be abandoned like this, at 14 years of age.
Bijou is on the quiet side, She’s a little shy at first, but she warms up in no time. When she met her new friend Otis, she perked up and was very curious about him and seemed to really enjoy his company as well as other dogs that she shares a kennel with. Bijou is a sweet gal and she loves affection. Every time she looks at you with those sweet, soulful eyes, you just want to reach out and hug her and tell her that everything will be ok.
We hope that everything will be ok for Bijou. She’s a sweet girl and she deserves much better than this.
Bijou is 14 years old and weighs 25 pounds.
