You’ve heard of Big Bertha. Meet our little Bertha! The only things big about her are her ears and her heart!
Bertha is a soft sweetie who loves a cozy bed and gentle pets. She’s vision impaired, but is a brave explorer and enjoys her walks too! She’ll be a stellar sidekick for jaunts around the neighborhood and cuddles on the couch!
HERE’S WHAT BERTHA’S FOSER HAS TO SAY!
Day 1:
We have been home with Bertha for only 2 hours and she is doing great! Myself and my teenage daughter live with our 2 other rescue dogs, a 10 month old Frenchie and a 10 year old chihuahua terrier mix. Bertha is super comfortable around them already and quite enjoys their company.
She loves to follow us around where ever we go in the house and loved her short walk with our two pups around the block. She seems to manage around the house just fine despite her limited vision – you would hardly notice her impairment, she is so spunky! She would be better suited to a forever home with no stairs to make her life comfy unless they were prepared to carry up and down as we do with our chihuahua :)
Day 2:
Bertha did great her first night with us. She is eager to go off and explore in the house and will let out a little bark if she gets lost. She much prefers to cuddle and sleep next to her humans rather than a doggie bed. She prefers quiet company so I would recommend adults only, no children as she can be a bit skittish when approached but this may subside over time as she gets used to her owners.
Miss Bertha loves loves loves to be held and curl up next to you but you have to be careful when picking her up as she is a bit nervous and quick to jump at first touch. I think this is due to her impaired vision as she loves to be as close as possible to people.
Day 3:
Bertha is doing great! She cuddled with us all day and all night. She cant get enough of people and being held or curling up in a blanket next to them. She is adjusting quickly and she is a bit easier to pick up now that she has been with us for a few days. We’re confident she’ll become more settled and less shy as she gets to know and love her new family!
