Lots of dogs are a little shy when they arrive at Muttvile. Berber the Bichon Frise was not. At all. He charged in like a long lost cousin, anxious to reconnect, physically if possible, with everybody in the room. It was impressive given his vision impairment, and, it turns out, pretty typical for this curly scamp, whose enthusiasm and navigational skills are supplemented by a sweet open heart. Clearly intelligent, occasionally vocal, he’s a great match for an active household, sporty individualists or a cross-species rugby team in need of a seasoned fullback. Our advice? Come for a hug, settle in for a lap-based love fest, then take him home.
Here’s some notes from his foster:
Meet Berber:
Despite being visually impaired, this senior gentleman still has plenty of pep in his step and a spirit that refuses to slow down. Berber has mastered the art of seeing with his nose, he enjoys playing hide-and-seek with treats. His keen sense of smell makes him a champion seeker, and watching his excitement when he finds a hidden snack is pure joy.
The Perfect Housemate:
*A Gentle Soul: He is remarkably quiet, polite, and well-mannered.
*Loyal Companion: A true lap dog at heart, he loves nothing more than keeping you company and being by your side.
*Resilient & Happy: He doesn’t let his vision stop him from being his joyful, confident self.
Berber isn’t just looking for a house; he’s looking for a lap to call home.
