Meet Bentley!
He’s never had any health issues—he’s fit, active, and full of life for a 9-year-old. He loves to hike, swim, and go on long walks. He grazes on his dog food with good discipline, enjoys meats and cheeses as snacks, but doesn’t indulge in table scraps. He’s gentle and well-trained—he’ll even take treats in slow motion when given the command “gentle.”
Our family had had Bentley since he was 8 weeks. We adopted him while stationed in Maryland as a military family, and he’s traveled with us across the country: Maryland, San Diego, Hawaii, and now Sacramento. He has been part of every adventure and has brought us endless joy.
When Bentley was three, we brought home his companion, Koko. They instantly bonded—beach days and cuddles were their favorite. Watching them together has been one of our greatest joys.
However, after welcoming our child, we were faced with an unexpected challenge. Our daughter has severe allergies to Bentley. For over a year we’ve worked with an allergist and tried everything possible, but her symptoms have only worsened. This has forced us to limit Bentley’s access to our main living spaces, and the change has understandably been frustrating for him. He’s begun barking at our daughter, and we can see the strain this situation has caused.
As heartbreaking as it is, we know it’s best for Bentley if we find him a new home where he can thrive in his senior years. He’s such a wonderful, obedient dog who thrives on positive reinforcement. We believe he would do great with:
A single person or couple
A family with children ages 5+
A home with or without other dogs (he adapts well)
He is neutered, 75 lbs, and very adaptable. Bentley deserves to spend his golden years in a loving home where he’ll get the attention and affection he’s always given us.
He is current on Vaccines and his complete medical records are available.
This is an urgent situation, and while our resources are limited, our priority is Bentley’s happiness and well-being.
Thank you so much for your time and compassion. We’re truly heartbroken, but we know finding Bentley the right home is the best decision for him.
