Unlike wheat, rice, and corn, Barley has actual health benefits including a decrease in heart disease, an increase in happy digestion, and a huge increase in snuggle satisfaction. Coming to you from Solano, Barley is a bundle of joy who is looking for his forever home. He has gorgeous brown hair and big brown eyes that seems to say, “Hi. I am good for you.” It is a mystery as to whether or not Barley helps prevent gallstones, but it is a fact that Barley will love your pillow almost as much as he loves you.

Here’s a note from his foster:

Barley has been such a joy to have in our home. He has a very easygoing, mellow, friendly, and confident disposition. I would describe him as a ‘velcro dog’; meaning he loves to be around us, doing whatever we are doing, going wherever we are going. He settled into our home very quickly and got along very well with the other animals. At home, he enjoys napping most of the day with short walks around the block (great on and off-leash manners). He also enjoys excursions out to the park, and loves the dog park and interacting with his other doggy friends there. We found that he also really loves going on outings with us in our dog stroller or tote (even falling asleep in there). We frequently take him out on Target runs, grocery runs, and restaurant’s.

Based on our time with him, we would say he would do well in many types of homes. He’s great with adults, children, and other animals. He is very friendly, most days can’t be bothered, and is not barky at all.

Barley started using doggy pads as soon as he walked through my front door. I was shocked at how well trained he was. He also enjoys going outside if someone is there to take him out. This is why I think he would be great for someone who has to work during the day! He will use doggy pads if necessary and doesn’t mind being left alone.

Barley hasn’t had one behavior that has needed correction since I’ve had him. He is the perfect house guest! Besides that, Barley loves to snuggle! He is able to jump on the couch with you while you’re watching tv, he likes to sleep close to you at night and loves all the pets and treats he can get! He doesn’t eat a lot. He’s more of a snacker. He eats a little bit, comes back a few minutes later and then eats some more. I thought he was a little on the heavy side when I first saw him but when you pick him up he is actually as light as a feather! It must be an illusion from his long beautiful chihuahua hair that he rocks! Barley is hands down one of my favorite fosters so far and I know wherever he ends up staying, his new owners will be extremely lucky!
