Barley is such a special adorable guy!

Barley comes to Muttville, sadly, because his guardian was very sadly, longer to physically care for him. He arrived long overdue for a groom and in need of some good old TLC.

Although it is a sad story, he has a new lease on life and is looking for his forever home to spend the rest of his days. He got a fresh haircut, and has made so many new friends since arriving. He is such a chill and cool guy, and gets along with literally everyone me meets. He has so many wonderful doggie traits that make him so easy to care for.

First off, he loves to sleep! He does enjoy short, slow walks and loves to take his time. He can’t do very many stairs but is good for a carry. He is quiet, gentle, adorable, and never stresses about anything. Barley will make the perfect addition to any home and we cannot wait to find out who his lucky family will be. We love you Barley!

*Here is what his foster has to say:

A day in the life of Barley:

We get up at about 7:30 a.m. Sometimes Barley stays in bed until 8. We go out for a quick pee and, after coffee, we either drive to the gym or take a walk in the neighborhood. Barley greets my fellow gym members and we take a longer walk before my outdoor spin class. Sometimes he sits on a blanket next to my bike; other times he waits in the car.

We have breakfast mid-morning. He enjoys food quite a lot. We read, do paperwork and so forth until our afternoon walk in the neighborhood. Late afternoon is an online poetry class and a nap. We take a spin around the block before dinner and cocktails at 6 p.m. In the evenings we watch television (he likes Bosch and any French-language film) and take a final pee before bed at 11.

He can do 2-3 stairs or manage a curb, but he cannot do a full flight. He’ll need a home without stairs or someone who is willing to take him up and down.

He is relaxed in the car, but he needs a lift in and out.

He co-exists peacefully with our senior mutt. He is curious about dogs he meets on walks and enjoys sniffing and greeting. I think the big ones make him a little nervous, as do puppies.

We take two or three (very slow) walks each day. The longest is about half an hour, the short ones less than ten minutes. For a short-legged guy with weak front legs, he enjoys going out! He makes sure to rest up.

His house training is great!! We’ve had no mistakes, although I make sure to give him lots of opportunities to do his business. Overall, Barley is a great little guy who enjoys life at a slower pace and would be a great addition to any family who also enjoys life in the slow lane!
