Well here he is! After a career trekking through the Sierras, leading 10-day backpack excursions, followed by a 5-year stint helping customers at REI pick the right hiking boots and tents, Alpine arrived at Muttville, showing off his beautiful Shepherd ears, perched atop his little Chi 10-pound body. A young 7 year-old, he may no longer be up for multi-day (or hour) hikes and treks, Alpine is, nonetheless, full of energy! A bit of an extrovert, he is a gentleman who is easy to handle, loves treats (don’t we all?), other dogs and people. If you’re ready to have a daily walking companion who will keep you in shape and give you fitness tips along the way, then come to Muttville and meet this little, loving sweetheart!
Here’s some notes from his foster:
I am pleased to introduce my foster, Alpine. This little guy is an active senior who still has pep to his step. He loves car rides and thrives on walks. He is ready to go whenever you are. We often walk three times a day, with our walks lasting from 10 to 40 minutes. He’s quick to learn routes and knows where to turn.
Alpine is a little foodie as well. Upon awakening in the morning, breakfast is his priority, and he will dance around you until he’s fed. Once he’s bonded with you, you are part of his pack, and he will protect you. We are working on minimizing barking at other dogs when walking, and Alpine is improving. Treats motivate Alpine. This little fellow will happily follow you around the house during the day and loves to snuggle next to you while wrapped in his blankets in the evening.
As we are experiencing better weather, Alpine enjoys soaking in the sun in a cozy chair with a blanket. He’s a sound sleeper and snoozes throughout the night, and if you are not up early, neither is he.
Alpine is loving dog, and I am happy to have had the pleasure to see him grow during his time with me.
