Alley, an impish Maltese Terrier mix, is a perfect example of the familiar canine aphorism, “Perfect is the enemy of good dogs.” Sweet to the bone, friendly with peers, and lovely with people, this puppy-esque slice of sunshine is a perky delight. Is she working through a wee hair loss issue at the moment? Absolutely! Does it dampen her spirits, slow her mojo or change her plans to fill a forever home with sweetness and light? Nope. Plus, she’s good with stairs and ready to do just about anything for a treat. Visit and fall in love with this affectionate scruff-enough girl. Then teach her to unload the dishwasher.

Here’s some notes from her foster:

Please meet my loving little girl, Alley. She and I have been together over two weeks, and she is rediscovering the joy of love and affection, good meals, and a comfortable place to sleep.

This gentle soul is blossoming into a wonderful and beautiful creature who will happily pal around with you, accompany you on walks and car rides and snuggles at night. She has transformed so much in such a brief time.

Alley is enthusiastic about meals and treats. She will dance and twirl about, patting her paws on the floor in anticipation of her breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Snacks are always appreciated. Alley and I are working on “sit” and “paw” using treats, and her training is going well. The commands work best when Alley is able to sit on a padded floor covering. This girl is food motivated.

Alley can easily go up and down carpeted stairs. She also can go up and down wooden stairs, but depending upon the stair pitch, she might need a little assistance. Alley is friendly and curious. She is good with other people and friendly to other dogs. She is not much of a barker. However, if she is in the yard sunbathing, she will alert me if someone is walking outside my fence line.

She enjoys short walks lasting about 15 minutes and can do 30 minutes too. (I think Alley just wants to get home as soon as possible for the treats!) Alley is fully potty trained. No accidents in the house. She is relaxed during car rides. She sits happily in the back seat quietly resting until we reach our destination. Sometimes I will need to wake her up when we arrive.

Alley is surprising good during bath time too. I think she enjoys this time being massaged in warm water. She is a sound sleeper at night. She goes to bed on her own and enjoys having a blanket around her. Alley is happy to sleep in her doggie bed.

Alley does not have any problems being left home alone. I can go out for a few hours, leaving her some food, and she will eat her treats and snooze away.

If you are interested in an easy-going mutt who enjoys eating, snoozing, car rides and strolls, Alley may be the one for you.
